Picture of Tom. I was raised on folk and classical music, played cello as a kid, mostly gave up music during puberty, then taught myself guitar in college because I wanted to sing. I suddenly rediscovered traditional British music in about 1988. I have British roots on both sides of my family, so the music has a lot of resonance for me. When Broadside Electric was formed in 1990 I had no idea that it would still be going over seven years later (I gave it two years at most). Instead, the band has reinvented itself three times. In 1994 we thought the band would start to wind down, but we found a new identity as a StickŪ-guitar-violin trio and turned out what I think is our strongest recording to date -- and with Joe and Amy now on board, it doesn't look like we will run out of steam anytime soon. This band has been a richly rewarding ensemble experience for me as a musician, almost like a second family (I know that sounds hokey, but it's true). I'm looking forward to whatever happens next. -- Tom [Text Only.] : [Help.] : [Site Map.] << < > >> _________________________________________________________________ Joe D'Andrea | Melissa Demian | Rachel Hall | Amy Ksir | Tom Rhoads | Jim Speer | Helene Zisook | Mike Ciul | Dan Riles | Alan Rose Biography | News | Personnel | Interview | Links About the Band | Their Music | Photography | Press Materials Contents | Help | Site Map
